Well, school's out today due to constant sleeting rain over the night. I have to admit that I'm getting tired of all this nasty winter weather. Don't get me wrong! I love snow! ...Just not when it--coupled with salt *gasps*--destroys the beauty of my gorgeous Larena (my beautiful BLACK Grand AM)!

Anyways, I've always loved taking photos and such, but have never really made it a sincere hobby before. After discovering deviantART and seeing other people's beautiful works of art, I have become very much inspired. I never realized how diverse photography could be!

So I would like to pose a question for anyone who could give me an informative response. I'm not exactly rich, but working 30+ hours a week does give me a reasonable sum of money to work with.

So what photo editing programs do most photographers out there recommend?

I keep toggling back and forth through Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 and Photo Impact II. The Paint Shop Pro one's on sale this week through Best Buy, but it would only be $10 less than the Photo Impact one would be after rebate.... And, if I'm not mistaken, the Photo Impact program has lots more to it, like web site stuff, etc. Only, what makes me hesitate on getting Photo Impact II is that Paint Shop Pro X2 has a tool that allows one to change the color of an object in the picture. The Adobe Photoshop program that I've been using through school has that tool, only it's for Mac, and I have Windows XP. I'd be really sad if I got Photo Impact, and it didn't have that tool.

I would very much appreciate it if I could get some comments on those programs, or other programs like it. I've heard about free programs through the web to download, but I have dial-up (Yikes!). It would take forever to download any such program on my computer.
